Shimano Fishing 1998

Fishing tackle manufacturer Shimano Corp. had an unwieldy, slow-loading, generally sub-optimal website to feature their catalog of rods and reels. I took their print catalog as a starting point and created this site, using a relatively flat hierarchy to eliminate extraneous pages, various html & graphic techniques to speed the download, and an easy-to-use navigation letting the visitor focus on the beautiful images of the product and highly readable text and specifications. The result: more than double the repeat traffic, huge gains on product views and page views per session, and presumably, happier fishermen.
